I've been reading (thanks to the library) a copy of The Civil War in the South-West England by John Barratt. Nice, short book, lots of details about the various small actions (well, mostly around the 3 to 7000 a side range outside of various cavalry skirmishes and similar) in Cornwall, Devon and a few other bits nearby. Certainly some interesting characters involved, perhaps worth a read for inspiration for battles as well.

Though I have a feeling most rules sets will thankfully give battles where the two sides DON'T hide behind hedges shooting for a couple of hours to no effect then upon one side finally having the guts to advance, the other immediately flees :p

Aaaagh! 17 pages now... I ear this topic is getting unwieldy. I was trying to find one of Paul's really useful links... would anyone object to locking this thread and starting a new one with spangly links in the first post?

TBH I think we need separate threads for each aspect of this. It's too big for a single thread. I'll lock this one but, rather than a single thread, start one for each subject of discussion?

Of course, if we're planning on a campaign, an ECW board is maybe the way to go.

Perhaps an ecw board? then we can put different topics in it... I'd suggest making it a 'child' board of the games people play. Or if we are planning a campaign then perhaps it's own standout board (it can replace the 7tv one (that's on the back burner at the mo!)) :shhh:

Couldn't make it a child board. It wasn't showing up properly. Locking this thread now. Keep calm and carry on (shooting roundheads)
