Oh I see. Indeed, maybe he has a time portal and can be on the field of battle in two spots and the same time!?!

What are the odds of us both fielding him at the same time anyways? It doesn't really matter after all... woo! I wasn't being serious!

On a far less provocative note, the toys I've swapped for have arrived:

40 P ike (20 armoured, 20 not)without pikes
96 Shotte (24 firing, 46 loading/advancing)
6 cuiriassers
3 Musicians
4 officer/sargeants
1 x standard bearer
bag of scots (haven't gone through them but archers and highlanders)
Scenic command table

Is that the Wedoubt Wupwecht? I think mine's from Warlord, with Boye.

Ages since I've seen the toys. Think they're in the loft.

How do the FoG rules look compared to Warhammer ECW, other than prettier?

Apols all for needless touchiness.

This gives me extra options for Salute purchases. I never did get my big guns from Warlord, so I think they have to be top of my list, along with their specialist sniper and gunner. Saker battery and them is £40.

The FoG rules are DBA EXTREME! Very pretty, rules are convoluted to read but (like its older version DBA) I get the feeling that they will play better than they read. Formations are very rigid (the whole tercio thing?!?! Woo, glad I'm not doing 30 year war spanish!)
The only oddity is the basing conventions used:
In 28mm they're 60x30mm for foot, 60x40mm for the cavalry. Dragoons are 60x60mm, Command are 60mm by 60mm and artillery 60 x 80mm (assuming 28mm! They are smaller for 15mm)

Rulebook is a thing of beauty, army list book is pretty as well, shame it's softback and the way the army list tables are designed? Ow, they hurt the eyes until you get used to them.

A standard 800(?) point game would equate to 2000ish WHECW.
Not sure whether they would be better than WHECW. Although it may be better for anyone (like myself) playing 8th ed fantasy as it means not getting mixed up between 2 editions of the same rules set (WHECW is 4th ed Warhammer basically).

Personally I'm waiting for my Pike & Shotte rulebook to arrive. Then I'll be better informed as to which of the 3 (4 if you include the rules set suggested by Kelso) I prefer. The worry I have about P&S is Blackpowder (the basis for P&S) works best on bigger tables than 6x4. Hoping that isn't the case with P&S

The basing is from DBx by the sound of things, scaled to 28mm, the same as other FoG eras. That's all 40mm frontage for 15mm and 60mm for 25/28mm.

Which rules did Kelson suggest? (Too many pages to look back)

Free rules set called Impetus. I know nothing about them, but it's worth a looksie I'm sure

Also... steel pike ordering on the interwebs! Gaaah! Perry do them, but don't accept Paypal. Warlord are pricey at £5 for 20. foundry are the same but do a 3 for less offer... then £8 postage! A Salute purchase methinks!
