Final Month - Preparation

Post by phil » Mon Jun 27, 2011 7:58 pm

Right, that's it then.

Well, nearly. Just one more round of matches to play... although anybody with an ounce of mathematical skillz might realise that the overall winner's already been decided...

So just pride to play :D

This month a slightly different set of scenario rules. No objectives, just annihilation... but with a twist. More to follow...

Ooh! Sounds juicy. Pride? I'm not playing for pride (thank the dice gods!) just need to EXTERMINATE all those humans (with the exception of Ms Pond as she's under the wing of the Doctor) in the campaign.

So here's how this month's game is going to pan out:

Armies set up as normal for Annihilation and Pitched Battle. There are no objectives, and the game will play out as normal, with the following exceptions:

1. An army has the opportunity to re-roll dice throws throughout the game; the number of opportunities is equal to the number of points the army has in the campaign league table.
2. Only entire throws relating to a single, same-characteristic event may be re-rolled per opportunity. Individual dice as part of a roll - for example, if 10 dice are rolled as part of an assault, all 10 must be re-rolled. Additionally, if dice rolls within an assault phase are split by characteristics (ie 6 dice for the squad, 2 for a Power Fist and 2 for a character) the player must choose a single component for the re-roll, (ie re-roll the 6, or the 2, or the 2; not re-roll them all).
3. Any number of opportunities may be cashed in per phase, but each dice throw may only be re-rolled once. In the example above, the player may re-roll all three rolls (the 6, the 2 and the 2) but that would use up 3 opportunities.
4. The re-roll results are final.
5. A player may also use up an opportunity by forcing the opponent to re-roll. In this case, no further opportunities may be taken for that throw - ie, the throwing player may not subsequently use an opportunity to replace the re-rolled results.
6. Scoring at the end of the game is on a per model basis, using the points cost of that model. Any model reduced to half wounds or less yields half points; vehicles that have a weapon(s) destroyed or is immobilised is also worth half points.

A recap of the league points in play (and therefore re-roll opportunities) is as follows:

Simon 15
Les 10
Martin 7
Phil 6

Please keep track on the night of the re-roll opportunities you've already used up - small markers or pieces of paper discarded through the game is a useful way of doing this.

Match-ups on the night will be:

Simon vs Les
Martin vs Phil

Any questions on the new rules, please ask away!

makes sense, the question I have is why am I facing Simon? ;) Methinks this is a ruse to make sure I don't come second :D

Should be fun.. bring on the flappy wing smurfs!

I don't think I've yet played Martin in the campaign, so the teams were based on that. Also, based on league results, if there's anyone that's likely to stop Simon getting a 100% record, it'd be you it seems :D

That's how Warbands will be decided, but as the final game will be an all-on-all free-4-all, anyone could win.

Okay, thanks for the heads up - we'll work something out! Painted stuff is fine for next week, btw, as you've told me in advance (plus I've seen the pics in the Gallery!).
