French Guard! 78th Giessen

Giessen is an industrial planet similar to Armageddon, it's just smaller and less war torn.
We also make various cheese and wine products instead of tanks.

But Inquisitor Ravensfriend has had his eye on Giessen for a while.
Reports of a chaotic cult have reached important ears on Holy Terra, and a largebattlefleet has been sent to investigate.

Y'know cos French people are evil and stuff...

Anyways heres my 500pts CP list

Basically the Frenchies are too scared to fight and hide with camo cloaks whilst the SAS (storm troopers) deep strike in
and own everyone.

just one thing, to take camo cloaks on your vets, you need to take forward sentries (includes camo cloaks), which is 30pts, as camo cloaks cant be brought on there own. so your 2 vet squads will total 120 pts each.
your command squad is fine, as camo cloaks are a option for them for 20 pts
so with 2 vet squads and command sqquad, thats 325 pts, and 430pts with your storm troopers, leaveing you 70pts to play with, so you could stick the command squad in a transport, or give an adviser or 2 (MOO for fun and giggles), or add a few more bodies to your ST squad.

Right then scrap the storm troopers and maybe 2 Scout Sentinels

pics didnt work duncan, if you useing photobucket, just right click on the forum tabs in the drop menu, that appears when you point at a pic, and copy and paste.

Right then.
Month 1 Path Of Battle and The Result Was:

WE GOT 0NW3D!!!1!
i had not lost a single man and all the terminators were dead.
Suddenly the deadnougth decided to join in and killed every single model left in my army
thats 500vps folks.

I thought i had it in the bag. however it was a very enjoyable game, with the highlight for me being
either a terminator getting killed by a laspistol, or lukas bastonne shouting
"i'll hold them off" staying in combat ALONE whilst the rest of the army ran away

if i've learned one thing then its: with the right planning, close combat guard COULD work with careful planning and
army list construction

I made a close combat guard command squad today.
550 odd points.

Its basically

Iron Hand Straken
Nork Deddog
Regimental Standard
Lord Commisar
Ministorum Priest
Plasma Gun
Medic

Chimera

Thats around 15 power weapon attacks on the charge.
everyone gets furious charge and feel no pain plus re rolls to hit (not nork deddog though)
The priest has a chainfist (eviscerator)
Straken is S7 on the charge and does bonus vs vehicles
The lord commissar makes them unlikely to run away but if they do it gets messy
(commisar shoots straken, nork kills commissar, thats 160+ points down the drain)

Put them in a chimera and have some veteran squads as backup also in chimeras
(with shotguns) and make them drive in fornt of the HQs chimera to block shots and/or give 4+ save.

Probably wont match combat oriented armies but against tau, other guard or space marines it should hopefully work
