Can award holders please return the trophies as soon as possible if you haven’t done so already.
Now that the last club night of the year has been and gone, I have all results. I will deliberately not update the league just yet. I know who’s won, but I’ll be keeping you all in suspense until the AGM!
The members get to choose who takes home the Bruce McGrath sportsmanship award.

Our events have been great this year, but they have been lacking in one important regard.
If you want A Small Matter of Honour (ASMOH), Muppet Bowl (MB) and Regarding Retribution (RR) to continue, and more events added to our calendar (Bolt Action anyone?), we need more help from members.
Our events need several things:
Players we can get. We have a loyal player base which has held together in spite of problems with venues.
Venues are getting tricky. Church Cottage (the large half-timbered hall) is simply too expensive for any event to make a surplus, and if we aren’t going to make money on an event, we shouldn’t run it. So we moved to Triple Helix in Westbury, now without a gaming centre, and then to The Games Shop in Aldershot, which changes hands on 31st December. We are trying to make contact with the new owner to see what the new deal will be, or if events will even be possible. Assuming they are, we need one more thing.
Helpers are the most difficult. We see the same faces every time to act as judges/set-up/runners for the day, for which we, and players, are extremely grateful. But there are never quite enough. ASMOH in particular is very difficult to run short-handed. There are too many players for two or three of us to cope. Do you want to see our events continue? Most of the day is boring, I know, but without helpers these events will stop. In addition to the stuff on the day: Pack writing/commenting, venue booking, ticket sales, list checking, rules questions.
How about ASMOH players volunteer for MB and RR, MB players volunteer for ASMOH and RR, and RR players volunteer for ASMOH and MB? Everybody gets to play in an event, and all the events get to take place.
The current committee have been in post for a few years. Some would like to swap out and be ordinary members again. Bringing some fresh blood onboard can only be good for the club as we’re probably getting a bit stale. That’s not to say we aren’t happy to continue for 2014, but extra pairs of hands on the committee would be wonderful, and maybe you could learn one of the more challenging roles during the year, with a view to taking over in 2015. The main things you need are enthusiasm and a willingness to be at the club most Tuesdays.
Chair – Chief Muppet. Be the public face of the club, make the announcements etc. I also run the website, but that doesn’t need to be the chair, it could be someone else on the committee.
Treasurer – Money Muppet. Collect membership and club night fees. Keep the tuck shop stocked. Buy scenery. Book the hall. Keep the books up to date and accurate.
Secretary and Other Muppets – We currently have three, but more would help share the load, especially in the run-up to events.
